CAS upholds transfer ban on FC Barcelona


Spanish giants, Barcelona, have had an appeal against a transfer ban on the club turned down by the Court of Arbitration. The club received a ban in April for violate the rules on the signing of players under the age of 18 and was handed a fine worth £300,000.

Barca appealed the decision but lost out in August before taking the case to CAS, FIFA's highest court, were the transfer ban was upheld. The la liga giants will not be allowed to register any new player in the next two transfer windows

'Distortion of history': knocks for OBJ over controversial memoirs


The recently published autobiography of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, My Watch, has continued to generate criticisms with the most recent coming from a former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba. Describing the book as a "distortion of history," the former governor promised to write his own book to address the lies by Obasanjo especially his claims that the third term agenda was foisted on him in 2007.

Gambia's President, Yahya Jammeh has confirmed that he is still in charge of the West African state after his security forces thwarted an attempted coup staged by an ex-army commander

3 bodies found in search for AirAsia QZ8501

Three bodies (not 40 as previously reported) have been recovered from the sea in the third day of a search for missing AirAsia Flight QZ8501, the Indonesian navy has revealed. Authorities spotted what they believe to be remains of passengers on a missing plane along with debris floating in the Java Sea off the Indonesian part of Borneo as they carried out their search for the missing aircraft.

Air Asia flight reportedly ‘at the Bottom of the Sea’ as search effort continues


Head of the search and rescue team for the missing Indonesia AirAsia flight 8501 which vanished a day earlier, Bambang Soelistyo, has told reporters in Jakarta that "the hypothesis is the plane is at the bottom of the sea." The chief of the search effort also added that this is "the preliminary suspicion and it can develop based on the evaluation of the result of our search."

Lagos 2015: PDP picks Abdulkareem as Agbaje's running mate


The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has finally announced Alhaja Safurat Olayinka Abdulkareem as running mate to its governorship flagbearer, Jimi Agbaje. Abdulkareem is a trained teacher and an accountant. She holds an MBA and is married to a retired Air Force officer. This is the second time she has emerged as running mate for the Lagos PDP. She was previously picked in 2003 as running mate to the late Funsho Williams.

It will take Buhari to fight Boko Haram - Amaechi


Director General for the Buhari Campaign, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate is the leader Nigeria needs to put an end to the Boko Haram insurgency. North Korea back online after internet shutdown


North Korea has returned online after experiencing several hours of internet outages on Monday. This is coming just a few days after US President Barack Obama vowed to respond to a major cyber attack on SonyPictures, which he blamed on Pyongyang.

Both countries have been involved a row following a cyber attack on US-based Sony Entertainment. The hackers said they carried out the attack because of a comedy drama, The Interview, from the studio about a fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
