Russian plane headed for Chad with weapons intercepted in Nigeria
Airport authorities in Kano, Nigeria, have intercepted a Chad-bound Russian aircraft carrying a Chopper along with AK-47 Rifles, and Bullet Proof Vests have been intercepted at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano Nigeria.
According to the General Manager, Communication at the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Yakubu Datti, the aircraft was seized by Nigerian authorities after it landed at the airport at about 2a.m. as a result of technical problems.
“The plane had a technical problem and the pilot sought permission to land at the airport’’, he said.
Investigations are ongoing to unravel the mission of the aircraft.
