Libya have defeated the Black Stars of Ghana in a penalty shoot out to win the 2014 African Nations Cup Championship in Cape Town, South Africa. The winner could only be decided from the spot as both sides failed to find the back of the net after 120 minutes of football.
The North Africans who had been tagged underdogs ahead of the clash, put in a good performance and defeated Ghana 4-3 on penalties to achieve their first continental glory.
The award for the most valuable player of the tournament went to Nigeria’s Ejike Uzoenyi while the Super Eagles, who earlier defeated Zimbabwe to clinch the third spot, received the CAF Fair Play Award.
