Anti-terrorism war hampered by saboteurs, but we will overcome – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed regret over the his administrations failure to completely stamp out insurgency in the country noting that he was however optimistic that his government will win the war against terror in the country

The President said this on Friday when he hosted some Nollywood and music stars under the auspices of “Creative Professionals, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He admitted his administrations efforts were being frustrated by sabotage, internal and external.

“One of our greatest challenges is this insecurity. We have our frustrations, we have issues of sabotage: internal and external, but we are working very hard and by the grace of God, we will overcome.”
President Jonathan also thanked them for creating a positive image for the country, saying that “Somebody may just look at you as entertainers but you are much more than just the entertainment industry because you create a positive image for Nigeria.

“Most of us politicians are just busy generating negative issues.

“Everyday, they talk about corruption, governance and other issues. It is you that pump the positive news into the system.”

In reaction, the leader of the delegation, Segun Arinze commended the President for supporting the creative industry and giving it the attention required.

“Your uncommon transformation has seen many of us travel to the best film schools around the globe to receive training we could only have dreamt about. We have received grants to make better films whereas we could not previously access loans.

“Under your administration, many of our members have received national honours, many of our members have gotten political appointments.”

Arinze further lauded the President “for his (your) maturity in the face of unfair opposition, tyranny and cynics. At a time like this, as you prepare to come back and seek the mandate of Nigerians for another term, you can be rest assured that we are with you. We will support you. We will be there for you, just as you have been there for us”.
