The Tonga Magistrate's Court in South Africa has convicted Sipho Makamo, 25, of Mzinti near Malalane after the accused pleaded guilty to two charges of animal cruelty. Sipho was handed a suspended fine of R6 000 or six months in jail after beating two goats on separate occasions.
After Makamo admitted he had committed a serious offence, Prosecutor Frederick Mhelembe asked him to apologise to the public stating that "Makamo, what you did is not acceptable in the community. When you abused those goats and sent clips to social media you felt like a hero, but now you have traumatised people who watched those videos."
