Aggrieved youths in Benin, the Edo State Capital, have staged a protest against the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) for neglecting their communities and failing to carry out their corporate social responsibility. The protesters disrupted traffic as they took their complaint to the gate of the company were they spoke with officials and received feedback.
The aggrieved youths recently submitted a list of demands to the NPDC and were assured of a response, one they never got. They called for development in the area in addition to employment opportunities and empowerment.
The NPDC assured the protesters swift action in implementing their promise to develop the area.
