Court orders Jega to register DPC within 72 hours

Following his failure to register the Democratic Peoples Congress, the Chairman of INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, has been given 72 hours to register the party or give reasons why he should not be committed to prison for contempt of court proceeding.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, fixed December 23 for hearing on the case.

The court had on the 17th of October ordered INEC to register DPC as a political party but the electoral body is yet to comply with the directive.
