General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has released a message on Facebook distancing himself and the church from a twitter handle, @RCCGWorldwide which tweeted a message endorsing a cleric of the RCCG, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, shortly after he was unveiled as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and running mate of General Mohammadu Buhari yesterday.
“On behalf of The Governing Council of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, we would like to inform the public that RCCG is not affiliated nor represented by @rccgworldwide. The church’s official twitter page is @rccghq. The church cherishes the right of all citizens to participate in the democratic process to vote,” the facebook message said.
The @RCCGWorldwide twitter handle posted a picture of the former Lagos State Attorney-General with the message: 'LET SOMEBODY SHOUT ALLELUIA!!!'. This was greeted with wide criticisms as social commentators accusing the church official of needlessly meddling into political affairs and undermining the neutrality of the church.
