Internally Displaced Persons flood Abuja

Over 2000 internally displaced persons, including women and children, from the North Eastern States of Yobe, Adamawa and Borno have moved into the Abuja Municipal Area Council, in Nigeria’s capital city. These refugees, some of whom are pregnant women, have been living on charity and aid from Non-Governmental Organizations.

Ravaged by the poor conditions of living, the IDPs have already expressed their discontent by calling on the government to come to their rescue. Meanwhile, the federal government has promised to support these people who have become refugees in their own country. According to the Vice President, Namadi Sambo , all relevant agencies of government have been directed to provide a durable solution to the crisis.
