Gunmen on motorbikes have launched an attack on four villages in Katsina State, north western Nigeria, killing at least 69 people in broad daylight. The Commissioner of Police, Hurdi Mohammed, told the Guardian that the attacks were carried out by ethnic Fulani herdsmen who have in recent times engaged in many violent attacks.
A Katsina lawmaker is also reported by the Guardian as saying "47 people were killed in the village of Mararrabar Maigora while seven deaths were recorded in both Kura Mota and Unguwar Rimi. Another eight people were killed in Maigora, according to Michika".
