Yobe School Massacre leave many students dead


Dozens of pupils in the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe State, witnessed a fatal attack by Islamists Militant group, Boko Haram, in the early hours of Tuesday.



The students were attacked in their sleep by the terrorists who opted not to use explosives in order not to attract law enforcement agencies. Some of them had their throats slit and others matcheted and burnt alive. The students dormitory was also set ablaze. A total of 43 casualties have so far been reported.

President Goodluck Jonathan has condemned the attack describing it as 'callous, barbaric and senseless'. The Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Geidam, also condemned the deadly attacks which lasted for 4-5 hours. He called on President to send more troops to the troubled state in order to prevent a future occurrence of terrorist attacks in the North Eastern State.

The Boko Haram militants have launched many attacks in the North Eastern region of Nigeria leading to great loss of life and property. From January till date, there have been over 250 casualties from attacks by he insurgents. The most recent was in Bama village, Borno State.
