Violence on election eve in Thailand
As Thailand prepares for its general elections, violence has erupted in the capital city of Bangkok. Anti-government protesters, known as the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) have engaged in a fight with the pro-government 'red shirt' factions.
So far, at least seven people have been wounded in the attacks. As both factions engaged in the gun battle, passersby and journalists struggled to take cover.
The PDRC blocked the entrance to the district office where paper ballots for the election are held. The leader of the opposition addressed the media and stated that they are not against the elections but feel that the system should be reformed before the election can take place. They have accused the government of massive corruption.
According to ABC News, Thailand's Election Commission has announced the ballot in that district will be cancelled because of the violence.
