Sanusi's suspension sends wrong message - Tambuwal

The Speaker of Nigeria's House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, has criticised the recent suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria's Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Tambuwal who spoke with journalists after a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the action by President Jonathan does not speak well of the anti-corruption war. He said the move by the President may affect the confidence of investors. 'I'm not an economist but I personally feel that will send wrong signals to investors'

The Speaker also stated that he remained a member of the PDP just like Chief Obasanjo. He said his visit to the former president was to seek his opinion and advise on issues of national development.

Nigeria's House of Representatives had on Friday passed a motion criticising the suspension of the apex bank's Governor.
