Mass exodus as Muslims flee CAR

Thousands of Muslims are fleeing Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic after recent attacks on the Muslim minority by the Christian majority. The muslims are being haunted for alleged atrocities committed by the defunct Muslim rebel government. CAR witnessed a tit-for-tat violence in December last year which resulted in the death of more than 1,000 people in Bangui.
A Christian crowed cheered as the fleeing Muslims left Bangui in a mass exodus using cars, pickups, trucks, lorries and motorcycles, escorted by heavily armed Chadian soldiers.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court has announced that a preliminary investigation will be conducted into potential war crimes or crimes against humanity in Central African Republic, after the crisis in the country went “from bad to worse.”

The remaining muslims who may have decided to stay behind are apparently in great danger judging from the witnesses claim that one man who fell from the overloaded trucks conveying the muslims to Chad was brutally slain.

“He didn’t even have the time to fall — he landed into the hands of the angry mob who then lynched him at the scene,” said a witness, Armando Yanguendji, who lives in Gobongo district.

“The Christians say the Muslims must go back where they came from — that’s why we are going home,” said Osmani Benui, one of the Muslims fleeing the CAR.
