PDP set to approach court over Buhari's academic credentials
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to challenge the eligibility of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in court after days of controversy surrounding the academic credentials of the former Head of State.
Disclosing this information today, Director of the PDP Campaign Council (Southwest), Akin Osuntokun, told Channels TV that “The party is going to court,” insisting that Buhari’s failure to present his certificate implied that he had none.
The controversy over General Buhari's educational qualification began last week when the Director of Media for the PDP presidential campaign, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify the APC presidential candidate noting that the electoral body erred in law by recognizing Buhari as a candidate for the February 14 presidential election when he failed to produce his academic particulars after his nomination as stipulated by the law. INEC however directed the matter to the judiciary for proper handling and interpretation.
