Niger Republic announce withdrawal of troops from Baga
Plans by the Nigerian Military to reclaim the border town of Baga in Borno State has been dealt a big blow following the decision by Niger Republic to withdraw its support for the mission. Niger's Foreign Ministry confirmed this development in a statement noting that it would not be involved in any attempt to retake the town from Boko Haram insurgents.
Reports in the media also suggest that Chad, which shares the border with Nigeria, has withdrawn its forces as well leaving the task of confronting the terrorist group solely in the hands of the Nigerian Military.
