President Goodluck Jonathan met with his service chiefs and various security personnel on Tuesday at the state house in Abuja. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the National Security Adviser, Director General of the SSS, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, as well as governors of three troubled North Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
The outcome of the meeting which lasted for about two hours is yet to be revealed but the Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Geidam, who spoke with journalists after the meeting called on the Federal Government to deploy more troops to the region to confront the insurgents.
Just a few days ago, the Boko Haram insurgents sacked Nigerian troops, and other multi-national forces from the border town of Baga in Borno State. The sect members also attacked the military camp and flushed Nigerian troops out forcing them to seek refuge in Chad.
