Military repel attack on Damaturu
Defence Spokesperson, Major Gen. Chris Olukolade has confirmed that the Nigerian military repelled an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to take over Damaturu, Yobe State. The terrorists launched a massive attack on the state capital in the late hours of Friday but were eventually pursued by the military after hours of gun battle.
Five soldiers were wounded and are said to be receiving treatment. The number of civilian casualty is yet to be determined. Olukolade also noted that the military has not given up its effort to regain the border town of Baga from the insurgents.
