Just days to the commencement of the 2014 African Cup of Nations, the hosts of the tournament, Equatorial Guinea have relieved the out-of-contract national team coach, Andoni Goikoetxea, of his duties. It is unclear at this point what necessitated the decision not to renew his contract which expired on December 31. Rumours already have it that Esteban Becker is the man to take over.
The tornament will start on January 17, leaving whoever is selected for the job with just over two weeks to prepare the team for kick off against Congo.
