Shekau is a lunatic – Shettima

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has come down hard on the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, calling him a lunatic and a deranged element who must not be taken seriously at any cost. The governor made this statement when he addressed journalists after a closed door meeting of North Eastern governors with the President and security operatives.

Shettima noted that the government is not resting on its oars and every effort is being made to ensure that the kidnapped Chibok school girls are returned in no distant time. He said his administration was providing the federal government with useful information to assist in the war against terror. Gov. Shettima also expressed his desire for elections to be conducted all over the country despite the security challenges. He noted that other troubled countries like Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria have conducted elections recently despite their predicaments and Nigeria should not be an exception.
