Blame game in South Sudan amidst violation ceasefire deal
Just few days after the warring factions in the world's newest state, South Sudan agreed a ceasefire deal, both parties have accused each other of violating the agreement meant to bring an end to the conflict that has killed thousands of people and driven half a million from their homes.
Spokesman of the military Philip Aguer said yesterday that the rebels attacked South Sudan’s army. In a phone interview from Juba, Aguer said the rebels have “not respected the cease-fire,” and have continued to attack the government. “We are puzzled whether these groups are under the same body that signed for peace in Addis or they’re operating under different orders.”
On his part, Lul Ruai Koang who is the spokesman of the rebel army accused the military and Ugandan troops of attacking insurgents near Bor yesterday. “The government violated the cessation of hostilities agreement for the second consecutive day,” Koang said.
