PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur bows to pressure, resigns!

The embattled National Chairman of Nigeria's ruling party Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has resigned. This revelation was made by President Goodluck Jonathan who also disclosed that Tukur's decision to step down was by mutual consent.

Rumours about Tukur's resignation have been on-going but just yesterday his media aide dismissed the reports. President Jonathan who announced Tukur's resignation to party members said that his stepping aside was as a result of no wrong doing but rather a move to address the intra party crisis that has been rocking the ruling party

The announcement was greeted by a standing ovation for Bamanga Tukur whom party members present including Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke lauded for his contributions towards the growth of the party.
President Jonathan also said a new Chairman will be announced when the PDP hold another NEC meeting next week Monday.
