Ivorian Midfielder Yaya Toure crowned African Player of the Year 2013

Manchester City's Yaya Toure has been named the African Player of the Year for the third time in a row. The result was announced this evening at the Glo CAF Award Ceremony held in Lagos Nigeria.



Toure saw off John Obi Mikel whom many analysts had predicted would clinch the award this time around.

The African Team of the Year includes: Vincent Enyeama (Nigeira), Ahmed Fathy (Egypt), Mehdi (Morocco), Kevin Constant (GUI), Mikel Obi (Nigeria), Mohammed Aboutreika (Egypt), Yaya Toure (CIV), Jonathan Pitroipa (Burkina Faso), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon), Emmanuel Emenike (Nigeria), Asamoah Gyan (Ghana) Coach Stephen Keshi (Nigeria)

Other Awards include:

National Team of the Year: Super Eagles of Nigeria

Youth National Team of the Year: Golden Eaglets of Nigeria

African Player of the Year based in Africa: Mohammed Aboutreika (Egypt)

‘Most Promising Talent’ Award: Kelechi Iheanacho (Nigeria)

Fair Play Award: Nigerian Supporters Club

African Coach of the Year: Stephen Keshi (Nigeria)

Referee of the Year: Haimoudi Djamel of Algeria (Officiated the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final as well as the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup play-off for third place).
