Lawmakers in the Abia State House of Assembly have criticised the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and described as mischievous, their recent threat to take legal action against former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika.
The Norther Elders had recently threatened to drag Ihejirika to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over allegations of human rights abuse in the north during his tenure.
In a unanimous decision, the Abia State lawmakers condemned this move saying that on the contrary, Ihejirika should be commended for his selfless service to the nation in leading the fight against the Boko Haram insurgent group.
