Tambuwal's Presidential ambition set to divide APC

Few weeks after the major opposition party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced their "big catch" in the person of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and the battle that followed between the opposition and the ruling party over calls for him to vacate his seat, it seems obvious that the political drama has only just started.

Recent rumours in the media had alleged that the the Speaker joined the APC to intensify efforts and stand a better chance to become the next governor of his home state, Sokoto. Shockingly however, Tambuwal has decided to take a shot at the Presidency, adding to a long list of candidates seeking to fly the flag of the APC come 2015.

Aminu Tambuwal joins former Head of State, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as well as the Chairman of the APC Governor Forum and Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. This has left the opposition party with a tough selection headache ahead of its primaries to pick a candidate that can wrestle with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). One can only wait to see who will eventually get the nod.
