Boko Haram does not represent Islam - Islamic Scholars

Some Islamic groups in Nigeria including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs condemn have condemned Boko Haram insurgents for their violent activities in the North Eastern part of the country.
The groups expressed concern over the wrongful classification of Boko Haram as Islam as an Islamic group noting that they are not Islams but murderers. Citing the recent case of the abductors of some female students in Chibok, Borno State, engaging them in marriage, one of the speakers pointed out that Boko Haram violated Sharia Law because marriage in Islam is not valid when done without the consent of the girl or her parents.

They warned the group against attack on women and children and called on the military to step up efforts to bring the insurgency ravaging the country to an end.
