AFCON: South Africa clinch top spot, Nigeria secure vital win

Bafana Bafana have qualified for the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after a 2-1 win over Sudan to cement top spot on the table. Elsewhere, the Super Eagles of Nigeria earned an important victory away to Congo.

Striker Ike Uche scored from the penalty spot to put the defending champions in front and minutes later the host were given a chance to level matters after the referee awarded them a penalty but the Eagles Captain Vincent Enyeama saved the spot kick.

Nigeria eventually got a late goal to put them above Congo in second place on goal difference. The Super Eagles need a victory in their next match against table toppers South Africa and may also require a favour from Sudan to avoid defeat against Congo.
