2015 election: Okorocha charges police to be non-partisan

As the general elections draw closer, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has called on the police to be fair in the discharge of their duties and not take sides with any political party. The Governor made this call when he visited the police headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

He asked the police to make the protection of law abiding citizens their priority. Okorocha stated that since he assumed office as governor of the state he has never interfered in police affairs or used the police to intimidate anyone. He stressed that the police must be allowed to do their job without taking sides.

Governor Okorocha lauded the police for efforts in curtailing kidnapping and other crimes in the state. He also donated some hilux vans to the police command to assist them in the discharge of their duties.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said the force will ensure that law and order is maintained during the election and voters are adequately protected.
