The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, has confirmed that seven states of the country including Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Plateau, Delta, Edo and Rivers have been hit by bird flu. He said about 22,573 birds across the country have died as a result of the virus.
Adesina however noted that the government has put all necessary measures to respond adequately and tackle the disease. He advised the general public to maintain proper hygiene and cook poultry products thoroughly.
According to the Minister, the Federal Government has so far been able to contain the disease in Kano and Lagos with the collaboration of the governments of those states. He expressed confidence that the government will control the virus disease just like it did in the past.
