Ahead of the February 14 presidential election, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has listed out conditions for throwing its weight behind any presidential candidate. Addressing the press today in Abuja, the party's National Chairman, Chief Olu Falae, noted that since the party was unable to field any candidate for the presidential election, it will declare support for a credible candidate that can address the challenges faced by the country.
Falae said the SDP will set up a committee that will pick a candidate who among other considerations must be committed to: the implementation of the 2014 National Conference report 'as a basis of restructuring Nigeria; intensification of efforts, military and otherwise, to defeat insurgency in the North Eastern zone of Nigeria; adoption of a policy of zero tolerance for corruption.
He stated that with the number of candidate presented for elective positions all over the country, 'it becomes clear that the Social Democratic Party is now the third largest party in Nigeria.'
