Days after houthi rebels staged protests and began to occupy public buildings, Yemen's President, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, has finally bowed to pressure and tendered his resignation to parliament. Houthi rebels had launched series of protest against his administration for the high rate of inflation and corruption
Hadi came into power after the 2011 uprising in Yemen with the huge task of uniting a divided country. His decision to step down has been greeted with mixed reactions. The houthis have however welcomed the resignation and are now working to form a new Presidential Council
