Some unidentified gunmen today stormed the venue of the All Progressives Congress campaign rally in Okrika, Rivers State. The attackers destroyed the stage and canopies as well as other equipment.
They shot into the air and threw dynamites forcing many of those preparing the campaign venue to flee for their lives.
Reacting to the incident, the state Commission of Police condemned the attack and asked the APC to reschedule the campaign for a later date after making proper arrangements.
He warned political parties to 'adhere strictly to the code of conduct guiding political activities in the state.' The CP said the police is on top of the situation and promised to bring the perpetrators to book.
