Presidency plans to lure Council of State to support postponement of election - APC

The All Progressives Congress has accused the presidency of planning to lure members of the Council of State to support the call for postponement of the general elections at a meeting scheduled for Thursday 6th February 2015. Addressing journalists today, the party's chairman, Chief John Oyegun urged members of the council not to accept the proposal.

He said the opposition party recognises the fact that INEC has had challenges but they have been or are in the process of being addressed by the commission.

The Peoples Democratic Party has dismissed the allegations noting that INEC is an independent body and has the sole responsibility of deciding if the elections should be postponed or not

Nine political parties have already threatened to boycott the poll if INEC does not shift it to a later date in order to allow eligible voters yet to obtain their permanent voters card to do so.
