12 people die in Kano suicide attack

Another bomb blast today left about 12 people dead at a motor park in the North Western state of Kano.
Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, said two young boys within the ages of 15 and 16 carried out the act inside a Volkswagen at the Kano Line Motor Pack where vehicles normally convey passengers to the North-Eastern part of the country.

He said the two young boys entered the park pretending to be looking for passengers and shortly after detonated their explosives, killing themselves and ten others in the process. Authorities have been busy evacuating dead bodies taking victims who sustained injuries to the hospital for treatment.

The Police Commissioner vowed to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to justice. Meanwhile, President Jonathan has condemned the reversion to ‘callous’ suicide bombing of soft targets in parts of the country by Boko Haram insurgents describing them as “acts of a desperate sect facing extinction”.
