Nasarawa Governor visits Keama LG, condemns attack

Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has paid a visit to Keama Local Government in the state, where no fewer than 20 people were killed in an attack rumoured to have been carried out by the Nigerian Military. The governor commiserated with the families of the deceased and described the attack as misplacement of priorities.

Speaking with journalists, he insisted that the people killed were not Fulani herdsmen but a group of people who were mourning the death of an elderly man in the community. The governor therefore called on the military to review their tactics in order not to waste the lives of innocent citizens in the war against terror.

Meanwhile, the Defence Spokesman, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade has insisted that the military has no knowledge of the attack. He noted that it has been normal practice to impersonate the military and this was probably one of those cases. Olukolade however promised that a thorough investigation will be carried out to know those behind the attack.
