Ekiti PDP leaders give Jonathan ultimatum to intervene in party crisis

Following the emergence of former Governor Ayo Fayose as the flag bearer of PDP in the forth-coming Ekiti gubernatorial election, aggrieved leaders of the party have given President Jonathan a five-day ultimatum to intervene in the crisis rocking the party. At a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Monday, the leaders called on President Jonathan to declare the March 22 primary election null and void, claiming that it was characterised by irregularities.

In attendance were: Chief Feyisayo Fajuyi, Chief Bankole Fayori, Oluwalana Ayobami, Chief Ajayi , Mrs. Foluke Adetunji, Mr. Akinola Adams and Biodun Ajibadeola.

Fajuyi who led the conference, said “We want the President to intervene in this crisis. The primary election of March 22 was a fraud because the ward congresses which led to it were openly rigged. Today makes it the 16th day of our waiting for a redress. While waiting, some leaders have been persuaded to abandon the truth.

“We as a group jointly and individually dissociate ourselves from being part of moving on at the loomong peril of failure at the coming governorship polls.

“The purported primaries itself was a daylight rape on democracy, and it was widely dismissed as unacceptable by the majority of the party’s stakeholders in Ekiti.”
