Atiku asks delegates to tackle federal structure
Speaking at an event in Nasarawa State University, Keffi on Tuesday, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar challenged the delegates at the on-going National Conference to address the ills of the federal system currently practiced in the country. He noted that the federal structure concentrates too much power to the central government while neglecting development at the grass roots.
“National Conference should focus on designing a political and governmental system that empowers local authorities and gives them greater autonomy to address peculiar local issues, and enhances accountability, while contributing to the general good of the country,” Atiku noted.
