The Adamawa State House of Assembly has impeached Governor Murtala Nyako after considering the report by a panel of inquiry set up to investigate allegations of corruption levelled against the Governor and his deputy. Although both parties failed to turn up at the hearing, the panel went ahead with its deliberations.
Bala Ngilari, the State Deputy Governor turned in his resignation letter earlier today. The Speaker of the House of Assembly has been sworn in as Governor of the state in acting capacity.
