Germany and Argentina to battle for World Cup glory

Germany and Argentina are both through to the final of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The German Machines defeated hosts Brazil in a game that should probably have ended at half time.

Goals from Thomas Muller, Klose, Toni Kroos, Khedira, Schurrie and Klose (who netted in the first have to become the tournament's all-time leading goal scorer) left the hosts feeling like they were hit by a tornado. Oscar got a late consolation goal leaving the final score at 7-1.

In the second semi final game, Argentina and the Netherlands held out a goaless draw after 120 minutes of football. The game went to penalties and the South Americans won 4-2.

Louis Van Gaal's men will play the hosts on Saturday in a battle for third place. The final match on Sunday between Argentina and Germany will no doubt be observed closely at the Vatican, with Pope Francis being a native of Argentina and his predecessor Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI a native of Germany.
