Louis van Gaal's Netherlands team yesterday defeated the host nation, Brazil in the third place match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Thiago Silva should have been sent off in the third minute after a bad challenge on Arjen Robben but the Brazilian Captain got away with only a yellow card and a penalty awarded to the Dutch which Robin Van Persie converted.
Daley Blind doubled their lead moments later after a poor defending by David Luiz. Van Gaal's men got their third of the night late on in the second half to cause further disappointment to the host nation.
