German Machines defeat Argentina in World Cup Final
Germany wrapped up a wonderful campaign by defeating Argentina 1-0 to become the first European team to win the World Cup on South American soil. Both sides failed to find the back of the net in 90 minutes and so the game was forced into extra time.
After 113 of football it was the super sub Mario Gotze who broke the deadlock to the delight of Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor who had been watching with keen interest. Lionel Messi had the chance to get a late equaliser after he was awarded a free kick but the Argentine skipper blasted into the stands failing to cause the German Machines any trouble.
Congratulations to Germany for a well deserved victory.
