Fortune Magazine lists Okonjo-Iweala among 50 Greatest World Leaders


The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been named one of the world’s 50 greatest leaders. Okonjo-Iweala came 33rd alongside leaders such as the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Pope Francis, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Mmodi.


Others on the list are U.S. Billionaire, Bill Gates, and wife, Melinda, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, and Apple Chief Executive Officer, Tom Cook.

The magazine described Dr. Okonjo-Iweala as “a fearless promoter of sound economic policies” and lauded her for working to ensure Nigeria’s economy became the largest in Africa.

The fortune magazine annually identifies individuals whose activities in government, business and philanthropy, have changed lives.
