Patience Jonathan wants INEC to rig Rivers’ guber poll, Gov. Amaechi alleges
AHEAD of the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, of pressurising the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to rig the governorship election in the state.

Rivers 2015: Opopo Nkoro endorse Nyesom Wike
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dakuku Peterside, may be their son but this has not stopped the traditional rulers of the ancient kingdom of Opopo Nkoro from publicly endorsing his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, Nyesom Wike, for the governorship seat in Rivers State.

Rivers 2015: Elders give PDP 7-day ultimatum to drop Wike as governorship candidate
Some elders in the riverine areas of River State have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to withdraw the governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike from the race. They expressed discontent over what they described as injustice and marginalization by the ruling elite in the state, for continuously neglecting the region in the choice of candidates to occupy the highest office in the state.

Rivers Governorship: Patience Jonathan endorses Wike
First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has openly declared her support for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
She made this endorsement at the burial Senator Tari Sekibo in Okrika on Saturday as she addressed the Council of Chiefs at the ceremony.

Former Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu has rated himself high for his performance in Rivers State noting specifically that no political assassination occurred during his tenure. He also described his critics and those that called for his redeployment as unfair.

FG and ASUU in fresh disagreement
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has criticized tha Federal Government for the slow implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding on the NEEDS projects in the universities. The union also condemned the sacking of over 90 employees of the Cocoa Research Institute in Ibadan, Oyo State, calling on the Federal Government and the masses to take action against the intimidation and injustice on the workers.
