Insurgency: President Jonathan meets with service chiefs, others


President Goodluck Jonathan met with his service chiefs and various security personnel on Tuesday at the state house in Abuja. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the National Security Adviser, Director General of the SSS, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, as well as governors of three troubled North Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

IGP donates cash and items to widows of slain officers


The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has donated cash and food items to the wives of police officers who lost their lives at Alakyo on 7th May, 2013 and others who went missing in the course of duty in Gwozo. Abba made this donations in Nasarawa State and promised to assist the widows in their time of need

Tambuwal vs FG: Court adjourns case indefinitely


Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the case filed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives against the Inspector General of Police and the Federal Government indefinitely. This is coming after three members of Kebbe Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State filed a motion for a stay of proceedings. The members had taken their case to the Court of Appeal to challenge a previous ruling on the suit by a lower court disallowing them to join the suit as co-defendants.

Tambuwal asks court to order Inspector General's arrest


The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has filed an application exparte requesting the court to order the arrest of the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba for disregarding the order by the court to maintain status quo in his legal suit against the police.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba today appeared before a House of Representatives committee set up to investigate the recent invasion of the National Assembly by the police.

Tambuwal reacts to rumours of his arrest


In reaction to rumours that have been circulating the Nigerian media in the last 24 hours that the Inspector General of Police has ordered that the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tamuwal should be invited to the Force Headquarters for questioning on his alleged role in the crisis that engulfed the National Assembly on Thursday morning, and that he should be arrested if he resisted, the Speaker has now issued a statement saying that he is ready to respond to the invitation by the police.

Presidency summons Inspector General of Police over NASS chaos


Following the chaotic show of shame that unfolded at the National Assembly complex yesterday, the Vice President, Namadi Sambo today summoned the Inspector General of Police to the Presidential Villa to provide explanation on the invasion of the assembly complex by policemen.
