N. Korea calls Obama 'monkey', blasts US for 'The Interview' release

Few days after Sony Pictures Entertainment disregarded terrorist threats from North Korea and went ahead to release The Interview, a controversial movie about a fictional plot to kill its leader, Kim Jong-un, North Korea has expressed displeasure and condemned US President Barack Obama over the release of the film.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has gone ahead to release The Interview, a fictional movie about a plot to assassinate North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un. The American movie company has been in the middle of a controversy between the United States and North Korea after the FBI alleged that a cyber attack on the company was carried out by Pyongyang. North Korea denied the allegation but praised the attack as a 'just act'.

North Korea back online after internet shutdown

North Korea has returned online after experiencing several hours of internet outages on Monday. This is coming just a few days after US President Barack Obama vowed to respond to a major cyber attack on SonyPictures, which he blamed on Pyongyang.

Both countries have been involved a row following a cyber attack on US-based Sony Entertainment. The hackers said they carried out the attack because of a comedy drama, The Interview, from the studio about a fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

US considers placing North Korea back on terror blacklist

The Government of the United States is currently considering placing North Korea back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. This is coming days after Pyongyang allegedly masterminded the colossal computer hacking on Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Although President Obama has said he does not consider the cyber attack an act of war, he has promised to “respond proportionally” to it. The US President noted that "We cannot have a society in which some dictator someplace can start imposing censorship here in the United States."
