Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire to battle for AFCON glory

The Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire and the Black Stars of Ghana are through to the final of the 2015 African Cup of Nations after securing victory over their respective opponents in the semi final stage of the competition.

AFCON 2015: Host, Equatorial Guinea, sack Coach Andoni Goikoetxea

Just days to the commencement of the 2014 African Cup of Nations, the hosts of the tournament, Equatorial Guinea have relieved the out-of-contract national team coach, Andoni Goikoetxea, of his duties. It is unclear at this point what necessitated the decision not to renew his contract which expired on December 31. Rumours already have it that Esteban Becker is the man to take over.

AFCON 2015: Demba Ba omitted from Senegal squad

Senegalese striker Demba Ba, has been omitted from coach Alain Giresse's preliminary 28-man squad for next year's Africa Cup of Nations finals holding in Equatorial Guinea. Giresse noted that the striker was left out of the squad because of injury but the former Newcastle and Chelsea player has expressed disappointment in the decision, insisting that he is fully fit to play.

CAF: Enyeama, Toure and Aubameyang shortlisted for Player of the Year

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has released the final shortlist for this year's African Player of the Year Award. The 3-man shortlist includes: Super Eagles Captain and Lille shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama; Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure; and Borussia Dortmund's Gabonese player, Pierre-Emerick Emiliani Francois Aubameyang.

AFCON: South Africa deny Nigeria qualification for Equatorial Guinea 2015

Bafana Bafana of South Africa today held the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a 2-2 draw at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium. The visitors went ahead late on in the first half and doubled the lead early in the second 45 minutes. Nigeria pulled one back minutes later before South Africa were reduced to ten men.

Bafana Bafana have qualified for the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after a 2-1 win over Sudan to cement top spot on the table. Elsewhere, the Super Eagles of Nigeria earned an important victory away to Congo.
