Presidency refutes Obasanjo’s allegations

The Presidency has described the allegations by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, that President Jonathan masterminded the postponement of the election as part of a grand plan to ensure that he wins at alln cost as odious and repugnant. A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati said Obasanjo has obviously decided to close his eyes to the good works and intentions of the Jonathan administration, and is bent on ensuring a regime change by any possible means.

May 29 hand over date remains sacrosanct -- Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that he remains fully committed to the sanctity of May 29, 2015 as the as the expiration of his tenure which began in 2011. He has made this reassurance just a day after the electoral umpire, INEC, announced an adjustment of the dates for the general elections earlier scheduled for February 14 and 28, now to hold on March 28 and April 11.

Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, has posted a wikileaks document showing proof that the present leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, opposed Buhari in his election bid in 2003, for fear that he was an 'agent of destabilization' and will introduce sharia law if elected.

President Jonathan visits IBB in Minna

President Goodluck Jonathan has continued to seek the support and endorsement of major stakeholders in the country ahead of the February 2015 general elections. Jonathan visited former President Ibrahim Bagbangida today at his Minna residence in Niger State. He was accompanied by the head of his campaign, Dr. Ahmadu Ali and the Deputy Governor of Niger State.

ECOWAS leaders to meet in Nigeria; discuss terrorism in the region

The 46th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government will be hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja. This information was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

Among many issues to be discussed, the body will deliberate on recent developments in the sub-region, and elect a new Chairman to replace President John Mahama of Ghana.

Obasanjo lashes out at Jonathan again, condemns corrupt National Assembly

'An old saying goes that fish starts to rot from the head. If the head is rotten, there is nothing left for the body'. These were the words of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo at the presentation of an autobiography of Justice Mustapha Akanbi, pioneer Chairman of Nigeria's anti graft agency, ICPC.

Obasanjo criticised the administration of President Jonathan for failing to address the rampant corruption and unemployment in the country noting that 'the often quoted GDP growth neither reflects on the living conditions of most of our people nor on most of the indigenous industries'.

President Jonathan appoints new Chief of Staff

The Federal Government on Tuesday confirmed that President Jonathan has appointed a retired soldier, Brig.-Gen Jones Oladehinde Arogbofa, as his new Chief of Staff.

Arogbofa's appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati. He was formerly an Officer of the Signals Corps of the Nigerian Army.

Oghiadohme resigns!

Chief of Staff to President Jonathan, Mike Oghiadohme tendered his resignation earlier today. Rumours have spread all over the media that his resignation may be due to his alleged involvement in the fraudulent dealings of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC).
